Price Hike Hits Commercial LPG and Aviation Fuel at the Start of November
Commercial LPG and aviation fuel prices rise in November, impacting consumers and airlines amid ongoing market fluctuations.

New Delhi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : As November begins, consumers in New Delhi are facing a price hike for commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and aviation turbine fuel (ATF). Oil marketing companies have raised the price of a 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder by ₹10, bringing the total cost to ₹2,820.
This marks the second consecutive month of increases for commercial LPG, following a significant rise of ₹62.50 per cylinder in October and a ₹9.50 increase in September. Earlier, in July and August, prices had seen substantial reductions of ₹183.50 and ₹192, respectively. However, between February and June, commercial LPG prices surged by ₹1,373, escalating from ₹1,740.50 to a record ₹3,113.50 per cylinder.
Under the revised rates, the price for a new connection of a 5-kilogram free trade LPG (FTL) cylinder is set at ₹1,903, while the refill cost remains at ₹782. Fortunately for domestic consumers, the price of the 14.2-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder has not changed and remains steady at ₹942. Additionally, there has been no alteration in petrol and diesel prices since the increase in May.
In a further blow to the aviation sector, ATF prices have risen by ₹1.37 per liter, now costing ₹138.50 per liter, up from ₹137.12. This marks the fourth consecutive month of price increases for aviation fuel, driven by robust crude oil and ATF prices in the international market. With ATF accounting for nearly 40% of airlines’ total operational costs, this hike is likely to have a direct impact on airline expenses.
Oil companies adjust LPG and ATF prices on the first day of each month based on international benchmark rates and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Local variations may occur due to state VAT and other taxes.
