Indian Soldiers Showcase Bravery and Ingenuity in Congo Fire Rescue

New Delhi, April 14: Indian soldiers deployed abroad have averted a major disaster during their international mission. United Nations peacekeepers stationed in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, acted swiftly and intelligently during a significant fire incident.

Thanks to the courage and quick thinking of the soldiers, more than a dozen lives were saved. The incident occurred in the Bujovi Quarter area, where a house caught fire due to an electrical short circuit. The blaze spread rapidly, engulfing three nearby homes in a matter of minutes.

Panic ensued among the densely populated area as the situation escalated. Upon receiving the alert, soldiers from the Indian Rapid Deployment Battalion at the BFI-CHU camp rushed to the scene. According to the army, the first step was to secure the area to prevent further risk to any individuals.

They then began the urgent task of rescuing people trapped inside the homes. Approximately 10 to 12 individuals were safely evacuated from the fire. Meanwhile, the soldiers’ firefighting team commenced efforts to extinguish the flames, checking inside the homes to ensure no one was left behind. During this operation, around 6 to 7 individuals were found injured and were provided immediate first aid to stabilize their conditions.

Indian soldiers also guided the fire brigade team arriving from Lava Site, playing a crucial role in coordinating efforts with firefighters and others on the ground. This effective collaboration allowed for a swift control of the fire, preventing a larger catastrophe.

Most importantly, no lives were lost in this incident. Experts commend the Indian peacekeepers for their rapid response, resourcefulness, and humanitarian spirit. This incident highlights that the Indian Army is not only committed to security but is also always ready to assist people in times of crisis.
