Noida Committee Meeting Announces Wage Hike for Workers Amidst Violence Concerns

Noida, April 14: In Gautam Buddh Nagar, a high-level committee formed by the state government convened an important meeting at the Greater Noida Development Authority on Tuesday. The meeting aimed to maintain industrial harmony and peace in the region.

Following the meeting, officials provided detailed insights into recent worker protests, wage increases, and the law-and-order situation. The committee was established under the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Industrial Development Commissioner Deepak Kumar announced that the government has decided to implement an interim wage increase to provide relief to workers, effective from April 1, 2026.

Wage increases in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad have been significant, reaching nearly 21%. According to the new rates, unskilled workers will see their wages rise from ₹11,313 to ₹13,690, semi-skilled workers from ₹12,445 to ₹15,059, and skilled workers from ₹13,940 to ₹16,868. Similar wage hikes have been implemented in other municipal areas and districts.

The government stated that this move would provide direct economic relief to workers. Officials clarified that reports circulating on social media about a minimum wage of ₹20,000 are entirely misleading. They noted that the central government is still in the process of determining the ‘floor wage’, and the state government is working towards a balanced decision through discussions with all parties involved.

The meeting included discussions with both labor organizations and employers. Workers emphasized their demands for wage increases, weekly holidays, double pay for overtime, and a safe working environment. Meanwhile, industry representatives cited global economic pressures as a reason to consider the workers’ demands carefully. The administration has taken a firm stance regarding the violence that occurred during recent protests.

According to officials, an investigation is underway to determine the role of external and anti-social elements in the violence. These elements will be identified, and strict legal action will be taken against them. A control room has also been established at the district level to address workers’ issues, where complaints can be lodged.

The government has made it clear that maintaining industrial peace and a favorable environment for investment is a top priority, and there will be no compromise on law and order. The state government has assured that it will protect workers’ interests while sustaining the pace of industrial development.
