Ranchi, April 14: The political atmosphere in Jharkhand has intensified due to repeated irregularities in competitive examinations, particularly concerning serious allegations of a paper leak in the recently conducted product constable exam. A high-level delegation from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) met with Governor Santosh Gangwar at Lok Bhawan in Ranchi on Tuesday, raising questions about the functioning of the state’s recruitment agencies, JSSC and JPSC, and submitting a seven-point memorandum.
The BJP delegation, led by state president Aditya Sahu and opposition leader Babulal Marandi, has called for a CBI investigation into the entire matter. The memorandum presented to the Governor highlights significant signs of malpractice in the product constable exam conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) on April 12, 2026.
Reports have emerged of candidates being coached with answers from an under-construction building in Tamad, Ranchi, leading to the arrest of numerous individuals. Authorities seized computers, printers, laptops, and suspicious documents from the site. The BJP has labeled this incident as linked to an organized examination mafia. The exam was held across 370 centers in eight districts for 583 positions, with approximately 148,000 candidates participating. Following such a large-scale operation at one center, concerns have been raised about potential irregularities at other centers as well.
Despite the evidence, the JSSC has denied any paper leak, which raises doubts, according to the BJP. The party has also referenced past irregularities in previous JSSC and JPSC examinations, questioning the transparency of the recruitment process.
Additionally, it has been alleged that actions have been taken against those who exposed irregularities in earlier cases. The memorandum includes seven key demands: a CBI investigation, an interstate probe into solver gangs, strict action against the guilty, justice for candidates, transparency in JPSC exams, an investigation into the last six years of examinations, and stringent reforms for the future. The BJP has urged the Governor to ensure a fair investigation, asserting that this will provide justice to candidates and restore faith in the recruitment process.
