Amit Shah Promises to End Love Jihad and Polygamy in West Bengal

Kolkata, April 14: Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Tuesday that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in West Bengal after the two-phase assembly elections at the end of this month, the party will implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) to eradicate the prevalent practices of ‘love jihad’ and polygamy in the state.

While addressing an election rally in Manikchak, Malda district, he stated that while some individuals may have the freedom to marry four times, this practice will be abolished once the new government is formed next month. He assured that there will be no more ‘love jihad’ or ‘land jihad’ in the state.

During his speech, Shah also issued a stern warning to those involved in various corruption cases during the 15-year tenure of the Trinamool Congress government. He emphasized that anyone thinking they could escape justice was mistaken. “Let the results be declared and the new government take shape. Every person involved in corruption will find themselves behind bars,” he declared.

He further warned that if any anti-social elements from the Trinamool Congress attempt to disrupt the voting process on April 23 and 29, they will face strict action. “I advise them to stay at home on polling days; otherwise, they will face serious consequences,” he cautioned.

Additionally, Shah addressed the aspirations of former Trinamool Congress MLA Humayun Kabir regarding the construction of a Babri Mosque in West Bengal, stating that such dreams would never materialize. He reminded the audience that Babur had demolished the Ram Temple, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has since overseen its reconstruction. “Humayun Kabir should understand that there will be no construction of a Babri Mosque anywhere in India,” he asserted.

He concluded by stating that just as the BJP has eradicated terrorism and left-wing extremism in West Bengal, it will also work to prevent illegal immigration across the country.
