Indian Oil Corporation Assures Fuel Supply Amid Global Uncertainties

New Delhi, April 5: The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), a government oil marketing company, has reassured the public that fuel supplies remain stable across the country. This assurance comes in light of global uncertainties that could disrupt supply chains for petrol, diesel, and LPG.

The public sector company stated that it is closely monitoring its nationwide distribution network. It is also taking necessary measures to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the company urged consumers not to panic buy or make unnecessary LPG bookings. Despite concerns arising from tensions in West Asia and disruptions around key shipping routes like the Hormuz Strait, the supply chains have remained stable.

“At IndianOil, we are ensuring the adequate availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG across the country. Steps are being taken to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders, and our supply network is under continuous monitoring,” the company stated.

This reassurance comes amid rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have raised concerns about global oil supply disruptions.

Officials indicated that Indian refining companies have actively secured crude oil supplies for the coming months, ensuring continuity in domestic fuel availability. They also noted that refiners have the capability to source crude oil from various geographical regions based on commercial considerations, helping to mitigate the impacts of global instability.

The Petroleum Ministry announced that India has recently imported a shipment of LPG from Iran, which has arrived at the western port of Mangalore and is currently being unloaded.

Officials confirmed that domestic fuel availability remains stable, with coordinated efforts ongoing to ensure uninterrupted distribution and prevent any artificial shortages.

Additionally, 21 states and union territories are conducting press briefings to counter misinformation and reassure citizens about the adequate availability and smooth distribution of LPG. The government has instructed chief secretaries of all states and union territories to disseminate accurate information promptly.

OMCs are also providing 5-kilogram LPG cylinders at distributors and petrol pumps upon showing valid ID, without requiring proof of address.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated, “5-kilogram FTL cylinders are available at nearby LPG distributors and can be purchased by showing any valid identification. No proof of address is required.”

Since March 23, approximately 570,000 such cylinders have been sold, with over 71,000 units sold in a single day recently.
