Jaipur, April 10: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country’s first integrated refinery-petrochemical complex by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited in Balotara on April 21.
He stated that the Pachpadra refinery will emerge as a crucial pillar of national energy security and will accelerate economic development in Rajasthan.
During a high-level review meeting at the Chief Minister’s office, Sharma instructed officials to ensure that the Prime Minister’s visit is both historic and well-organized.
The Prime Minister will also address a public gathering and flag off LPG tankers produced at the refinery.
Sharma directed officials to make extensive arrangements at the event site, including seating, drinking water, medical facilities, uninterrupted power supply, parking, traffic management, and security.
He instructed the traffic police and transport department to coordinate for smooth traffic flow and adequate parking. Guidelines for tree plantation activities within the refinery complex were also issued.
Sharma mentioned that besides petrol and diesel, the Hindustan Refinery and Petrochemical Limited will produce polypropylene, linear low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, benzene, toluene, and butadiene.
These products will significantly benefit sectors such as transportation, pharmaceuticals, paint, and packaging.
He further added that this project will strengthen energy self-sufficiency, reduce import dependence in the petrochemical sector, and create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities along with skill development for the youth.
The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited refinery in Pachpadra is poised to play a vital role in meeting energy demands at both state and national levels.
The revised project cost is ₹79,459 crore, with an annual refining capacity of nine million metric tons. This refinery will process a mix of 1.5–2.5 million tons of Rajasthan’s crude oil and 6.5–7.5 million tons of imported crude oil. The facility, spread over approximately 4,400 acres, has already commenced commercial production of liquefied petroleum gas.
Senior officials present at the meeting included Chief Secretary V. Srinivasan, Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma, and representatives from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and other relevant departments.
