New Delhi, July 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh have expressed their sorrow over the recent boat accident in Vietnam. PM Modi conveyed his condolences to the grieving families and mentioned that the Indian Embassy is providing all possible assistance. Rajnath Singh also wished for the swift recovery of those injured in the incident.
A message from the Prime Minister was shared via his official X handle, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the news of the tragic boat accident involving Indian nationals near Phu Quoc, Vietnam. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the quick recovery of the injured.”
The Prime Minister further noted that the Indian Embassy and Consulate are offering every possible support to those affected. Indian officials are in constant communication with their Vietnamese counterparts.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his grief regarding the boat accident involving Indian tourists in Vietnam. He stated, “I am profoundly saddened by the loss of precious lives in the tragic boat accident involving Indian tourists in Vietnam. My heartfelt sympathies are with the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured and for the success of the ongoing search and rescue operations.”
He also highlighted the efforts of the embassy to provide all possible assistance.
The incident occurred on Saturday when a boat carrying Indian tourists capsized near Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. According to local media reports, 15 people lost their lives, while 21 others were rescued and hospitalized.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Local authorities are conducting relief and rescue operations. The Indian Embassy in Vietnam has stated that detailed information about the incident is being gathered.
The Indian Embassy in Hanoi shared the news on the social media platform X, stating, “A tragic incident occurred a few hours ago when a boat carrying several Indian tourists capsized near Phu Quoc Island. The local administration is conducting search and rescue operations, and accurate details of the incident are being collected.”
To assist the affected families and provide information, the Indian Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City has set up a control room. Additionally, a separate control room has been established in Hanoi.
