
Nice, June 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community upon his arrival in France. He described the honor from the community as truly memorable.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi expressed, “A memorable welcome from the Indian community in Nice. Even though they are thousands of kilometers away from home, our community’s bond with India remains as strong as ever.”
Upon reaching France, the Prime Minister stated, “I have arrived in Nice. Besides Nice, this trip includes events in Avignon and Paris. Bilateral and multilateral discussions will aim to enhance India’s friendships with key development partners. I look forward to meeting President Macron on Sunday and participating in ‘India Innovates’.”
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that this visit presents an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between India and France in specific sectors. The year 2026 will be celebrated as the ‘Year of Innovation’, emphasizing a focus on innovation.
The Ministry also mentioned that the ‘India Innovates’ event will showcase India’s innovation ecosystem, providing a platform for startups and innovators to present their cutting-edge solutions and products.
PM Modi will also participate in the G7 summit in France. Additionally, he will inaugurate ‘India Innovates 2026’ alongside French President Emmanuel Macron.

This event is part of the “India-France Year of Innovation,” aimed at connecting emerging Indian startups with global investors and promoting innovations from the country’s higher education institutions.
Following this, PM Modi will embark on a two-day state visit to the Slovak Republic (June 14-15). He remarked, “This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister since independence in 1993. In Bratislava, I will meet with President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico, as well as industry leaders from Slovakia. This visit will further accelerate progress towards the India-EU free trade agreement.”
