Dubai, May 5: The ICC has released the latest Men’s T20 team rankings, with India firmly holding the top position. In the recent update issued on Tuesday, under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, India boasts 275 rating points, maintaining its status as ‘Number 1’. Although India’s lead has slightly diminished, they remain significantly ahead of second-placed England, which has 262 points, while Australia trails closely in third with 258 points.
This update reflects matches played since May 2025, which are weighted at 100%, while games from the previous two years carry a 50% weight. This ranking underscores India’s consistent excellence in T20 cricket. The Indian team has performed spectacularly, winning the Men’s T20 World Cup in both 2024 and 2026.
There has been no change in the top seven rankings, indicating a strong consistency among the leading teams. New Zealand remains in fourth place with 247 points, followed by South Africa in fifth with 244 points. Pakistan and the West Indies hold the sixth and seventh spots with 240 and 233 points, respectively.
Looking further down the points table, Bangladesh has gained a rating point, moving up to eighth place. This shift occurred as Sri Lanka dropped to ninth after losing six points. Afghanistan sits in tenth place, just one point behind Sri Lanka.
Several teams have made significant strides in the latest rankings. The United States has been among the most improved, gaining six rating points and climbing two spots to 13th place, surpassing the Netherlands and Scotland, which now occupy the 14th and 15th positions, respectively. Namibia remains steady in 16th place, while Nepal and Oman have each moved up one spot to 17th and 19th.
At the lower end of the rankings, Italy has made the most notable gains, acquiring 11 additional rating points and jumping three places to 23rd. Spain and Cyprus have also shown remarkable improvement, while Mozambique suffered a significant setback, dropping 15 places.
