India Recognized as Most Proactive in Ensuring Safety of Citizens Abroad

Kuwait City, March 15: India has consistently demonstrated its readiness to protect its citizens in conflict zones and crisis situations around the world. A new report highlights India’s unwavering commitment, asserting that the country ranks among the most proactive and responsible nations in safeguarding and assisting its citizens abroad.

In recent years, these efforts have been executed through “swift, well-coordinated, and large-scale evacuation operations.”

According to a report by Times Kuwait, India has not only rescued its citizens but has also assisted in evacuating foreign nationals during emergencies. This humanitarian approach has garnered global appreciation for its spirit of international solidarity.

The report elaborates, “Through rapid diplomatic engagement, seamless coordination among government agencies, and efficient military logistics, thousands of Indians have been safely brought back home from perilous situations. Major evacuation initiatives like Operation Raahat, Operation Sankat Mochan, Operation Ganga, and Operation Kaveri have facilitated the escape of thousands from conflict-ridden areas.”

The report notes that during the escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, the Indian government closely monitored developments and accelerated evacuation efforts through all possible means. Indian officials also took steps to keep airfares stable and affordable for citizens wishing to return home.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated, “The safety and well-being of Indian citizens abroad is our top priority. We cannot remain indifferent to events that may negatively impact them.”

The report emphasizes that many returning travelers expressed gratitude to the Indian government for its timely intervention.

Families welcomed their relatives returning from the conflict-affected Gulf region at airports across the country, praising the swift actions of Indian authorities.

In mid-2025, during the Iran-Israel tensions, India successfully evacuated its citizens from conflict zones to neighboring countries before bringing them back home by air.

The report mentions, “Under an operation called ‘Operation Sindhu,’ evacuees were transported via Armenia before being sent back to India on special flights. Many of those rescued described the process as smooth and well-organized; temporary accommodations were arranged in comfortable places until travel arrangements were made.”

Seharish Rafiq from Kashmir expressed pleasant surprise at the assistance provided by the Indian embassy. Times Kuwait quoted Rafiq saying, “Initially, I couldn’t believe the embassy would work so hard for us. Everyone in Kashmir is truly grateful to the Indian government.”

Another Indian citizen, Mir Mohammad Musharraf from Pulwama, remarked that the operation was extremely helpful and praised the embassy for ensuring their safety.

Similarly, during the Russia-Ukraine war, India initiated ‘Operation Ganga,’ evacuating over 23,000 citizens along with 147 foreign nationals from 18 countries. The report states that evacuees were first taken to neighboring countries such as Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Moldova, before being flown back to India on special civilian and military flights.
