India Must Intervene to Halt Iran-Israel Conflict: Salman Khurshid

New Delhi, March 8: Senior Congress leader and former Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid has urged the Indian government to take initiative in stopping the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel-America. He believes that if India can successfully intervene to halt the war, it will enhance the country’s reputation globally.

In a media interaction, Khurshid commented on the Israel-Iran dispute, stating that any significant event occurring worldwide impacts all nations, including India. He expressed empathy for the victims of the conflict, regardless of their nationality, emphasizing the urgent need for the fighting to cease. “The war must stop immediately. India should make every effort, but it seems there is a lack of initiative from our government. If India takes steps to end the war and succeeds, it will put our country on the global map,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of unity among different religions, saying that collaborative efforts among Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians can strengthen national unity.

In related remarks, Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad noted that while Muslims in India are generally safe, there are instances of oppression in certain areas. He criticized the Indian government’s silence following the assassination of the Iranian Supreme Leader, suggesting that Prime Minister Modi should have expressed condolences. “We feel that America has effectively enslaved us, and India is complying with every command,” he stated.

Haji Salman Chishti, Chairman of the Ajmer Dargah Sharif and Chishti Foundation, expressed gratitude on behalf of India’s 1.4 billion citizens to Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri for visiting the Iranian embassy and conveying India’s condolences regarding the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei during Ramadan. He described this gesture as significant, reflecting the long-standing cultural, spiritual, and historical ties between India and Iran.

Chishti called on world leaders to unite and condemn the brutal war crimes committed by Netanyahu and his forces. He urged both the Indian leadership and global leaders to denounce these serious acts of war crimes and ensure accountability for the perpetrators.
