India Dominates World Yoga Championship 2026 with 22 Gold Medals

Ahmedabad, June 7: At the World Yoga Championship 2026, India has showcased its prowess by surpassing 20 gold medals on the third day of the event. Nepal, Japan, and the USA each secured one gold medal.

The competition, held at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad, has seen India maintain its dominance, winning medals across nearly every event for all age categories. Currently, India boasts a total of 22 gold, 5 silver, and 1 bronze medal.

Nabila Sol Baraja’s two gold and two silver medals have propelled Argentina to second place in the overall standings. Singapore has slipped to third place with two gold and two bronze medals. Nepal has made significant progress, now in fourth place with 1 gold, 6 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

India’s contingent consists of 122 members, with athletes competing in six age categories: Sub-Junior Men and Women (10-14 years), Junior Men and Women (14-18 years), Senior (18-28 years), Senior A (28-35 years), Senior B (35-45 years), and Senior C (45-55 years).

Ritu Mandal, who won the first gold medal for India in the Senior A Women’s Traditional Yoga category, also claimed the team gold. Meanwhile, Mio Kōsuno of Japan (Senior C Women’s Traditional Yoga), Durga Panta of Nepal (Senior C Women’s Forward Bend), and Kemi Blake of the USA (Senior B Men’s Back Bend) won gold medals, enhancing their countries’ standings.
