
New Chandigarh, June 6: India has established a strong grip against Afghanistan in the ongoing lone Test at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. By the end of the first day, the Indian team scored 368 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, with only 85 overs played.
Winning the toss in Mullanpur, the Indian batting lineup faced an early setback. Yashasvi Jaiswal fell as the first wicket, scoring 24 runs off 32 balls, including 5 fours, at a total of 41 runs.
Following this, Sai Sudharsan partnered with KL Rahul to add 139 runs for the second wicket, propelling the team’s score to 180. Sudharsan contributed 81 runs off 104 balls, hitting 13 fours.
Captain Shubman Gill then took to the crease, forming a 67-run partnership with KL Rahul for the third wicket, bringing the score to 247. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant came in at number five and completed his half-century before the day’s end.
