India Achieves Milestone in QS World University Rankings with 52 Institutions Recognized

New Delhi, June 18: India has achieved a significant milestone in the QS World University Rankings this year. A total of 52 institutions from the country have been included, with 13 Indian universities making it to the global top 550.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced this on social media platform X, stating, “India’s global presence in education is steadily increasing. It is a matter of pride that 52 Indian institutions have been recognized in the QS World University Rankings, with 13 universities securing a place in the global top 550. This achievement reflects the growing strength of our higher education ecosystem and the commitment of our institutions, faculty, researchers, and students to excellence. A robust and globally competitive higher education ecosystem is central to our resolve to build a developed India by 2047.”

He further emphasized, “Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and the transformative reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, India is continuously emerging as a global hub for knowledge and innovation.”

Pradhan extended heartfelt congratulations to all the institutions that have brought pride to the nation. He asserted that together, they will continue to strengthen India’s journey towards becoming a global knowledge superpower.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education also posted on X, stating, “India is consistently strengthening its presence in global higher education. The QS World University Rankings 2027 includes 52 Indian institutions. IIT Delhi remains the highest-ranked institution in India at 118th globally, followed by IIT Bombay and IIT Madras.”

The Ministry further noted, “For the second consecutive year, IIT Delhi has emerged as India’s highest-ranked institution in the QS World University Rankings 2027, improving its position from 123rd in 2026 to 118th in 2027. This achievement showcases the growing global recognition of Indian institutions for research and innovation.”

The QS World University Rankings is the most prestigious annual list of the world’s top universities, published each year by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). It assists students in making informed decisions about higher education globally.
