Jaipur, September 2: The Rajasthan government has launched a campaign to strengthen and repair dilapidated schools across the state. Ashutosh Ranka, co-convener of the Cockroach Public Party (CJP), welcomed this initiative on Wednesday, calling it a victory for students.
This response came after repair work commenced at a government school in Bagru, near Jaipur, where a CJP team was attacked during an inspection on August 21.
Speaking to reporters, Ranka expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We are pleased that repair work has started at that school, despite being stoned, facing harassment, and having our car windows broken. More importantly, this is a victory for the students who have been studying in a cattle shed for over two years.”
Ranka emphasized that quality education is a fundamental right for every student, whether in Rajasthan or elsewhere, and pledged that the CJP will continue to advocate for them.
He insisted that similar repairs should be conducted in all schools across the country.
Rajasthan’s Deputy Chief Minister, Prem Chand Baidya, announced on Wednesday that the state government has initiated a campaign to transform and improve government schools statewide. He confirmed that all schools found in dilapidated conditions will be reinforced and repaired.
Baidya noted that the specific school under focus had bulldozers deployed, but stressed that this was not an isolated incident. The government has identified schools with damaged or unsafe buildings, and the Chief Minister has approved necessary funds to address their poor conditions.
In an interview, Baidya mentioned that the government has been working on identifying schools with infrastructure issues and making alternative arrangements where necessary.
He added that efforts to identify and manage schools facing problems have been ongoing, and where such conditions exist, the government has already been addressing them.
Furthermore, he pointed out that many buildings were old and constructed years ago, making it inaccurate to claim that these issues arose only after the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power.
