
Gonda, June 18: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued strict directives to the administration regarding preparations for Muharram. Police across all districts are on high alert. Gonda’s SP, Vineet Jaiswal, confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been finalized for the observance of Muharram.
In an interview with a news agency, SP Jaiswal stated that the Gonda administration has completed its preparations for Muharram. Meetings have been held with local residents and religious leaders at all police stations. Additionally, a Central Peace Committee meeting, led by the District Magistrate and SP, has also concluded.
He mentioned that all individuals have been informed about the government guidelines. The community is cooperating and has assured adherence to these guidelines. Processions have already commenced, with daily processions planned. A sufficient number of police personnel and PAC have been deployed for security. All police officers and magistrates will be present on the ground to oversee the events. The social media cell is actively monitoring various platforms.
Jaiswal warned that any attempts to disrupt the atmosphere via social media would be identified and met with strict action.
Earlier, CM Yogi Adityanath held a meeting to discuss law and order, upcoming festivals, NEET exam preparations, and International Yoga Day, where he issued firm instructions to officials in all districts.
The CM emphasized that no display of weapons, initiation of new traditions, or uncontrolled use of loud DJs and drums would be permitted during Muharram. He also cautioned about adhering to regulations regarding the height of Tazias.
Meanwhile, the SP of Bareilly reported that Military Intelligence had informed the Cantt police about the storage of combat uniforms at a local shop. Following this tip-off, a joint raid was conducted, resulting in the seizure of 2,100 meters of combat uniform fabric.
He further stated that a case has been registered based on this seizure, and the accused, Arbaaz, has been arrested.
