Increase in Flights from Gulf Countries to India, Reports Government

New Delhi, April 5: The number of flights from Gulf countries to India is steadily increasing, with several airports in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman operating flights to various cities across the country. This information was provided by the government on Sunday.

The government reported that 90 non-scheduled flights from the UAE to India are expected on Sunday. Flights are also arriving from multiple airports in Saudi Arabia and Oman. The airspace over Qatar is partially open, with around 8-10 flights anticipated to India.

Despite the closure of airspace in Kuwait and Bahrain, flights to India are still being operated via Dammam in Saudi Arabia. Travel from Iran is being facilitated through Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Similarly, travel from Israel to India is being streamlined via Egypt and Jordan, while flights from Iraq to India are taking the route through Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

The ministry further stated that the body of an Indian sailor, who lost his life in an attack on a ship off the coast of Oman, has been repatriated to India, and all possible assistance is being provided to the grieving family.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian embassies and the community in the region are in constant contact, providing assistance for their safety and issuing necessary advisories.

A total of 345 Indian fishermen stranded in Iran returned home on Saturday. The embassy in Tehran assisted them in reaching Armenia from southern Iran, from where they flew to Chennai.

The Ministry is closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Gulf and West Asia, maintaining regular coordination with states/union territories and Indian embassies through a dedicated control room.

Indian embassies are providing 24/7 helpline services, issuing advisories, and coordinating with organizations, companies, and local authorities within the Indian community. Assistance includes visa services, consular support, transit facilities, and logistical help.

The ministry noted that embassies are in continuous contact with Indian crew members on ships, offering consular assistance, helping establish contact with families, and supporting return requests.
