New Delhi, July 29: Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation of the recent attacks in Iraq attributed to the United States and Saudi Arabia. The ministry stated that these actions aim to further escalate war and conflict in West Asia.
The Iranian embassy in India posted on the social media platform ‘X’, denouncing the aggressive attacks by the US and Saudi Arabia on several areas in Iraq. These strikes targeted facilities associated with Iraqi official institutions, as well as centers serving pilgrims during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that these attacks represent a blatant violation of Iraq’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity. They also contravene Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter and fundamental principles of international law. Such actions align with the objectives of the US and Zionist regime, which seek to intensify war and conflict in the region.
The ministry expressed condolences for the deaths of numerous innocent Iraqis resulting from these aggressive actions. It reiterated Iran’s full support and solidarity with the Iraqi government and its people.
Furthermore, the ministry holds the US administration and its regional allies fully responsible for these dangerous, inhumane, and provocative actions, warning that they will bear the consequences of these serious steps.
The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Iraq reported that 20 of its fighters were killed and 32 others injured due to the airstrikes by the US and Saudi Arabia. They also noted that buildings, vehicles, and military equipment suffered varying degrees of damage in these attacks.
