New Delhi, June 6: Congress MP Imran Masood responded to the internal rifts within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and recent political developments by targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He alleged that the government machinery is being misused to weaken political parties, which is detrimental to democracy.
Masood stated that playing such games against any political party is unacceptable. He accused the BJP of creating ‘proxies’ for its own interests whenever allegations arise against them. Citing Tamil Nadu as an example, he noted that new strategies are being attempted to establish the BJP in a political landscape where it struggles to gain a foothold.
He expressed concern over the promotion of hate and divisive politics in the country, describing it as alarming. According to him, such politics undermines democratic values and creates distance within society.
Regarding the TMC split, Masood clearly stated that the breakaway faction is merely a ‘proxy’ for the BJP. He remarked, “Do not consider them separate from the BJP. They are indeed BJP members.”
Additionally, he reacted to a statement by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, who suggested that parties that left Congress should reunite. Masood welcomed the idea, saying, “What could be better than that?”
He emphasized that the people of the country are beginning to understand the struggles of Rahul Gandhi. Masood asserted that Rahul Gandhi possesses the capability to lead the nation with integrity, a quality he currently does not see in any other leader.
