Kolkata, June 15: TMC MP Asit Mal addressed the ongoing political turmoil within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal. In a conversation with reporters on Monday, he expressed concern over the party’s current standing. He lamented that a party that has ruled the state for 15 years now finds itself marginalized. The TMC is fighting a battle for credibility, and currently, no one seems to be paying attention to it. All eyes are on the future of TMC in this challenging situation.
When asked if Abhishek Banerjee is responsible for the political chaos within TMC, Mal firmly denied the claim. He stated that it would be unfair to blame Banerjee for the turmoil. The decision to form a separate group within the party was made collectively, indicating that Banerjee’s role in this matter is negligible.
Additionally, he shared insights regarding their alliance with the NCPI. Mal confirmed that they have decided to join the party as a group. The next steps are being outlined, with discussions on various points currently underway.
TMC MP Shatabdi Roy also weighed in on the political upheaval, stating that they are prepared to openly support the NDA in the coming days. She emphasized that there is no hesitation in backing the NDA. However, she noted that the future decisions will unfold with time, making it difficult to comment further at this moment. Overall, the situation remains fluid, and any decisions will depend on the evolving circumstances.
