Shimla, February 25: On Wednesday, the Himachal Pradesh police detained at least 20 officers from the Delhi police in connection with the arrest of three Youth Congress leaders in Rohru town.

These leaders were apprehended during protests held by the Youth Congress at the AI Summit in New Delhi. A team from the Delhi police traveled to Rohru to arrest the leaders and was returning to Delhi when they were stopped near Dharampur in Solan district by state police.

Both the detained officers and the arrested leaders were taken to Shimla, where they are being presented in court. Superintendent of Police Tirumalraju S.D. Verma informed the media that they had received reports of the arrests and established checkpoints near Dharampur at the request of Shimla police.

The arrests were carried out by Shimla police. Congress MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore has demanded strict action against the Delhi police from the state government. He described the police’s actions against the Youth Congress leaders as an attempt to suppress their voices.

In a press release, Rathore stated that raiding premises without a warrant is a clear violation of privacy. He urged the state government to take legal action against the Delhi police.

Rathore criticized the central government, asserting that the country does not belong to any single party. He emphasized that while governments may come and go in a democracy, it is the opposition’s duty to voice the concerns of the public. He accused the central government of trying to stifle the voices of youth by escalating the shirtless protests of the Youth Congress during the AI Summit into a significant issue.
