Heavy Traffic on CBSE Verification and Re-evaluation Portal Amid Cyber Attacks

New Delhi, June 3: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reported significant traffic on its verification and re-evaluation portal. As of 10 PM on Tuesday, approximately 14,000 users were simultaneously accessing the portal, with over 28,000 applications successfully submitted.

According to officials, the portal has been upgraded based on feedback from students. The session time limit has been extended, providing relief from interruptions and enhancing the user experience.

The CBSE headquarters stated that technical teams are monitoring the portal around the clock to ensure it remains secure, reliable, and user-friendly for students.

The verification and re-evaluation process is crucial for thousands of students seeking clarity on their exam results or hoping to rectify potential errors.

Despite the academic session schedule being pre-determined, the board is effectively managing the high volume of traffic. The decision to extend session time is expected to benefit students who frequently encounter time-out issues during peak usage hours. The number of students applying for re-evaluation in various subjects has also increased.

Students and parents have welcomed the board’s assurance that the portal will be closely monitored to prevent any technical issues and ensure a smooth application process.

The board has also reported attempts of large-scale cyber attacks by malicious elements, even as a significant number of students utilize the portal. According to CBSE, security teams have managed to maintain control despite these attacks.

The board’s cyber security teams indicated that a Denial of Service (DoS) attack was attempted to disrupt the portal, recording nearly 1.5 million hits within just two minutes. Additionally, there were over 100,000 unauthorized access attempts to the portal’s files. However, the security measures remained active, preventing any major impact on the application process for students.

CBSE reiterated its commitment to continuously improve its digital platforms based on student feedback, reflecting its dedication to student interests and academic fairness.
