Mumbai, June 21: Political tensions have escalated following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s accusations against the Congress party for allegedly attempting to separate Bengal from India. In response, Congress leader Hasan Dalwai confronted the Prime Minister on Sunday, asserting that the public is increasingly discerning the difference between political rhetoric and reality.
In an interview, Dalwai raised questions regarding Modi’s foreign policy and recent military developments. He stated, “It is the Prime Minister himself who is bowing down to powerful nations.” Dalwai pointed out that whenever former U.S. President Donald Trump makes a statement, the Indian government appears to act accordingly, which is why Trump praises the Prime Minister.
He referenced the formation of Bangladesh, highlighting that the historic separation from Pakistan was achieved under the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Dalwai claimed, “During recent military conflicts, India did not adopt the expected firm stance. People anticipated concrete actions regarding Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, but none were taken. The public is now evaluating political claims against actual achievements.”
When questioned about the re-examination process, Dalwai remarked, “The government has implemented several measures to prevent incidents like paper leaks, and the examination should be conducted with complete transparency. If there is another major lapse in the system, accountability must be established. Those responsible must resign on moral grounds.”
Dalwai also responded to the rebellious stance of six Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs in Maharashtra’s politics. He stated, “The MPs elected by the public did not receive votes solely from one party; they were supported by all coalition partners of the Maha Vikas Aghadi and various communities. Therefore, leaving the party or taking a different path would contradict the voters’ mandate. The public in those constituencies may oppose such actions.”
He dismissed rumors of a potential split within the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh and discussions about Akhilesh Yadav resigning from the presidency. He asserted, “There is no truth to such speculations, and the question of Akhilesh Yadav resigning does not arise. These are merely political rumors with no basis in reality.”
