Haryana Congress to File Complaint Over Rajya Sabha Election Irregularities: Hooda

Chandigarh, March 28: Former Chief Minister of Haryana and opposition leader Bhupinder Hooda announced on Friday that the Congress party will file a complaint with the Election Commission regarding the cancellation of four votes during the recent Rajya Sabha elections.

In a media interaction, Hooda stated that the Rajya Sabha elections have once again highlighted that the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) can never oppose the BJP. He noted that the INLD did not cast their votes this time, as they were aware that Congress was likely to win. Despite the cancellation of votes and cross-voting, Congress secured 28 votes, while the BJP-supported independent candidate received only 16 votes.

Hooda emphasized that even if the INLD had voted for the independent candidate, Congress’s victory would still have been assured.

Commenting on the shortage of LPG, petrol, and diesel in the country, he remarked that for many years, the BJP government has imposed double the tax on these fuels compared to the Congress regime. He stated, “Now the excise duty is being reduced, but the public is not benefiting from it. Fuel prices continue to rise.”

Having served as Chief Minister twice, Hooda questioned the government’s claim that there is no shortage of LPG, pointing out the long queues everywhere. He held the BJP government responsible for the cooking gas shortage in Haryana, stating that the government has yet to clarify the situation.

Hooda further asserted that law and order in the state has completely collapsed. According to the central government’s Social Progress Index, Haryana is the most unsafe state in the country.

He also mentioned the IDFC Bank scam involving ₹590 crores and the Panchkula Municipal Corporation scam of ₹160 crores, stating that it remains unclear who was responsible for these scams. He demanded a thorough investigation, the identification of those at fault, and strict action against them.

Regarding the alleged ₹1000 crore scam in paddy procurement, he claimed that high-ranking officials are involved, while the government is deliberately trying to implicate lower-level employees, protecting the real culprits.
