Gwalior, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently reviewed plans for a major telecom manufacturing zone in Gwalior, which is set to attract an investment of ₹5,500 crore. During his visit to the Srimanth Madhavrao Scindia Counter Magnet City (SADA), he held discussions with officials and reviewed a detailed project presentation.
Scindia informed the media that a 16-kilometer line is being laid from Tansen Square, with about 4 kilometers already completed. Work on the remaining segments of 3.75 kilometers and 2.5 kilometers has yet to begin. Additionally, three bridges are under construction over the Kunwari, Aasan, and Sank rivers, with approximately 65% of the work completed. The entire project is expected to be finished by March 31, 2027.
“This is the final roadshow,” Scindia stated. Following this, the list of companies and the land to be allocated will be finalized. Once the land is distributed, the Chief Minister and Scindia will convene a meeting with all company owners for the ground-breaking ceremony of the telecom manufacturing zone in Gwalior.
He also highlighted that, based on roadshows held in Delhi and Mumbai, investment proposals amounting to ₹5,500 crore have been received. This initiative is anticipated to generate between 15,000 and 18,000 direct job opportunities.
Scindia took to social media platform X to announce the significance of the project, stating, “Gwalior will host Asia’s first telecom communication manufacturing zone!” He inspected the land designated for the zone alongside the Secretary of the Telecom Department and senior officials from both the central and state governments. This integrated Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) aims to become a state-of-the-art industrial cluster for telecom and electronics manufacturing and innovation.
With recent MOUs and meetings with investors in Mumbai, Scindia emphasized the urgency of bringing this project to fruition, aiming to create new employment opportunities for thousands of youths in Gwalior.
