National Conference Strategizes for Upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Session

Srinagar, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : As the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly prepares for its upcoming winter session, the National Conference (NC) held a crucial meeting on Sunday in Srinagar. Party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah led the session at the banquet hall, which also included party vice president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

In attendance were six legislators from the Indian National Congress, contributing to discussions on the assembly session‘s strategies, proposed legislative work, and various public interest issues.

The winter session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly is set to commence on Monday. During the meeting, legislators focused on key issues to be raised during the session and the party’s priorities. Dr. Farooq Abdullah urged his colleagues to maintain coordination and effectively voice the concerns and aspirations of the public in the assembly. He highlighted the need for constructive participation and focused discussions on matters of public interest.

The meeting also delved into issues related to public welfare, development, and governance. Emphasis was placed on ensuring that NC legislators engage collaboratively during the assembly proceedings and present public-centric issues effectively.

Recently, Dr. Abdullah accused the administration led by the Lieutenant Governor of intimidating Kashmiri Pandits to prevent Jammu and Kashmir from regaining statehood. Speaking to reporters in Anantnag, he explicitly stated that the administration is allegedly instigating threats against Kashmiri Pandits to hinder the restoration of state status.

When asked by journalists about the statehood issue, Dr. Abdullah responded with a question: “Who is issuing threats? Kashmiri Pandits hardly reside here anymore. All senior officials stationed here are from outside and are Hindu. The DGP, DIG, and SSP are all Hindu, right? Why are they not receiving threats? If Hindus are being threatened, why aren’t these senior officials facing the same?” He asserted that these threats are part of a conspiracy to deny statehood.
