New Delhi, August 22: A total of 48 teachers from across the country have been selected for the National Teacher Award 2026. President Droupadi Murmu will honor all the selected teachers on September 5, during Teacher’s Day celebrations at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Several teachers shared their thoughts in exclusive interviews, expressing gratitude for this recognition.
Archana Shukla, a teacher from Madhya Pradesh, stated, “Many of our students come from underprivileged backgrounds and are not financially stable. However, these children have immense potential. We believe that if we make some changes to our teaching methods, we can significantly improve their learning outcomes.”
She added, “I truly want to thank God. This is all due to His grace and my students. On Friday evening, around 5:00-5:30 PM, I received a call saying, ‘Madam, please check your email.’ When I checked, I found out about the award. This award is not just for me; it is for all women, for teachers in Madhya Pradesh, and for my students who have always believed in me.”
Principal P. Vijay Kumar remarked, “I received the news on Friday evening at 6 PM. Teacher Archana Shukla informed me over the phone. This is a great honor for the entire school and our students. She is being recognized for her outstanding work in her field, especially for the innovative practices she has adopted in education, such as project-based learning, which has sparked interest in science among the children. We have also encouraged research in commerce and arts.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Dinesh Kumar from Punjab expressed his happiness, saying, “I am very pleased. The children performed excellently, and the jury recognized my work. I received calls from the district, state, and country, all offering their congratulations. There is a joyful atmosphere in the school. When children see us doing something, they learn quickly. These are government school students from very poor families, and many have been supported by NGOs. When they go on to engineering or medical colleges, their fees are covered by these NGOs.”
Dr. Renu Tripathi, a science teacher from Ghaziabad, shared her experience: “At 5:56 PM on Friday, I received an email. I cannot express the feelings I have. What I have been waiting for, what I deserve, and the knowledge I impart to my students, who are progressing to higher positions, has been recognized today. Innovation in science is crucial. The National Education Policy 2022 emphasizes teaching in the simplest language. Children can learn best through practical and low-cost models. We have a herbal garden where I take my students to teach them. They learn by doing, and that has inspired me. My motivation has always been to impart education to my students.”
