Guard Murdered at Jagannathpur Temple Sparks Security Concerns in Ranchi

Ranchi, April 24: A shocking incident occurred late Thursday night at the Jagannathpur Temple in Ranchi, where unknown assailants murdered the temple guard. This incident has caused panic in the area, prompting police to launch a serious investigation into the matter.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Ranchi’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Rakesh Ranjan, arrived at the scene to assess the situation. According to police reports, the attackers not only committed murder but also stole cash from the temple’s donation box, indicating that the incident may involve both robbery and homicide.

The deceased has been identified as Birsa Munda, who was on duty as the temple guard. Preliminary investigations suggest that the guard may have attempted to stop the criminals while they were trying to access the donation box, leading to his tragic death.

Following the incident, police immediately initiated an investigation. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the temple premises, which reportedly captured an image of a suspect. Authorities are working to follow this lead to apprehend the culprits.

DSP P.K. Mishra from Hatiya stated that Birsa Munda was tasked with the temple’s security, and it appears that this was a robbery gone wrong. He mentioned that a thorough examination of the crime scene is underway, with forensic teams and dog squads actively involved in the investigation. Senior officials have also inspected the site and provided necessary directives.

The DSP confirmed that a case has been registered against the unidentified assailants, and efforts are being made to resolve the case as quickly as possible. Political reactions have also emerged in response to the incident. Ajay Nath Shahdev, Chairman of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association and Congress leader, emphasized that the family of the deceased guard should receive appropriate compensation. He urged the administration to enhance security measures in the area.

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdev expressed deep concern over the incident, questioning the state’s law and order situation. He pointed out that the assembly is located less than a kilometer from the temple, which is considered a high-security zone. Such incidents in this area raise serious concerns.

He added that if a murder can occur in a high-security zone without immediate leads for the police, it is a troubling situation. He appealed to the state government to prevent Jharkhand from becoming a hub of crime. Currently, police are investigating all aspects of the case.
