Egypt Condemns Attack on Riyadh Airport as Violation of International Law

Riyadh, October 10 (Daily Kiran) : Egypt has issued a strong condemnation of the recent attack on King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The country’s foreign ministry described the assault as an “open violation of international law” in a statement released on Saturday. The attacks were reportedly carried out by Houthi rebels, although Egypt did not specify any group in its announcement.

In a post on X, the ministry stated, “Egypt firmly condemns the attacks against our ally, Saudi Arabia, which targeted King Khalid Airport and a Saudi Airlines aircraft. These attacks resulted in the deaths of three Saudi citizens and injuries to several civilians.”

The statement further emphasized that Egypt completely rejects these assaults, viewing them as a blatant violation of international law. It expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in its efforts to ensure the safety, sovereignty, and protection of its citizens.

The ministry also highlighted that targeting air traffic undermines international security and stability. Egypt extended its heartfelt condolences to the Saudi government and people, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

The attacks on Thursday, attributed to an Iranian-backed group, claimed the lives of three Saudi citizens, including a pilot. Earlier, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported that attacks had also occurred on October 6 and 7 at Abha and King Khalid International Airport, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including two women.
