Lucknow, June 23: The Uttar Pradesh government is actively responding to the tragic fire incident at a coaching center in Aliganj, Lucknow. In the wake of this disaster, which claimed the lives of several students, the government has pledged financial assistance to the victims’ families and assured a thorough investigation into the matter, promising strict action against those responsible.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak described the incident as deeply saddening and heart-wrenching. He stated that the state government has immediately provided ₹5 lakh in financial aid to each of the deceased’s families. Additionally, an assistance amount of ₹2 lakh has been announced for each affected family from the Prime Minister‘s office.
Pathak emphasized, “During this time of grief, the entire government stands with the affected families. We will fulfill any further needs that arise. The government is taking every necessary step to ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. Strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty in the investigation.”
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also expressed profound sorrow over the incident. He noted that the loss of 15 promising students has left the entire nation in mourning. Orders for an investigation have been issued, and all aspects of the incident are being thoroughly examined. Maurya pointed out that the lack of safe exit routes in a location housing so many students is extremely concerning and unfortunate. If negligence by officials is discovered, action will be taken against them as well.
In the aftermath of the Lucknow tragedy, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has entered full action mode. A large-scale investigation campaign has been launched in Kakadev, a major educational hub in the city. Several coaching institutes are under scrutiny for potential violations of safety standards and building regulations, with actions already taken against some.
During the raids, several coaching institutes were evacuated. The administration has stated that the safety of students is the top priority, and no institution will be allowed to overlook safety regulations.
