Patna: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has accused some groups of spreading misinformation regarding the University Grants Commission (UGC), asserting that such tactics will not succeed. Speaking to journalists at Patna airport after the Supreme Court stayed the new UGC regulations, Singh expressed gratitude towards the apex court for its decision.
“We thank the Supreme Court and welcome its verdict,” said Giriraj Singh. “Some people had started dirty politics, but this is the Narendra Modi government. ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is not just a slogan but a practice. Whether pain is in the right hand or the left, the whole body feels it.”
He outlined three key points regarding the UGC matter. When the court dealt with the promotion of Scheduled Caste individuals, the government brought practical solutions through Parliament. The legal recognition of the OBC commission was also granted under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Additionally, the government extended 10% reservation for economically weaker sections among the general category, thereby covering all groups.
The Union Minister emphasised that Prime Minister Modi works for the nation’s interest and has implemented all necessary measures for the country’s progress. “Some people are troubled by this and resort to politics,” Singh said, expressing thanks to Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for their efforts toward national development.
Taking a dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Giriraj Singh criticised her political stance, saying, “The whole country has seen Mamata Banerjee’s mindset. While Maharashtra mourns Ajit Pawar’s demise, Mamata Banerjee is indulging in politics over it. This is a tragedy and should not be politicised.” He added that her approach divides society and is driven by vote-bank politics.
