Kolkata, March 6: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh has raised concerns regarding the governance of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. In a conversation with reporters on Friday, he pointed out that Banerjee has been in power for the past 15 years. He highlighted the dire state of the region, noting that industrial growth has plummeted to less than 3%, leaving residents burdened with debt.
Additionally, Singh criticized Banerjee’s ongoing protests, questioning the appropriateness of her stance in favor of illegal immigrants. He expressed his dismay, asking, “Can we accept such a situation under any circumstances?” He likened the current scenario to a situation where the guilty reprimand the law enforcers, a state of affairs he believes is unacceptable due to Banerjee’s governance.
Singh further elaborated on the plight of farmers and laborers across the state, stating that they are in distress and unsure of how to proceed. He remarked that every segment of society is facing challenges today. He noted that individuals who once rode bicycles under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) are now driving cars, suggesting a significant shift in wealth distribution.
He accused the TMC of misappropriating ₹15 lakh crore provided by the central government, leading to the current turmoil. Singh concluded with a direct question: “Can we accept this situation at any cost?” The answer, he asserted, is a resounding no.
