Giriraj Singh Highlights Jute as a Key Thread in Self-Reliant India

New Delhi, April 1: Union Minister Giriraj Singh emphasized the progress and future potential of the jute industry during the National Jute Board and Jute Corporation of India’s foundation day event. He observed various jute product exhibitions and closely examined innovations related to the industry.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, he stated, “Innovation, value addition, and market expansion in the jute sector are providing new directions for farmers, artisans, and the industry. ‘Golden Fiber’ is strengthening the foundation of a self-reliant India and a green economy.”

He further mentioned that India is the world’s largest jute producer. Today, ‘Golden Fiber’ is gaining global recognition as an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic. This sector supports nearly 4 million farming families and millions of workers, forming a robust foundation for the rural economy.

Giriraj Singh referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘5F’ vision (From Farm to Fiber, Fiber to Factory, Factory to Fashion, Fashion to Foreign) and stated that the jute sector is empowering the value chain from ‘field to market’, giving new momentum to a self-reliant India and a green economy. He urged everyone to make this ‘Golden Fiber’ a strong thread in the progress of modern India.

Speaking to journalists, Singh stressed the importance of national development. He noted, “There is a significant lack of large textile units in Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and the northeastern states. While there were some units in Bengal, they left due to Mamata Banerjee’s policies.”
