New Delhi, May 6: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has made sharp comments regarding the proposed cabinet expansion in Bihar, the political situation in West Bengal, and recent blasts in Punjab. He stated that if Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee does not resign from her position, the Governor should intervene.
In response to Banerjee’s refusal to resign after losing the assembly elections, Singh criticized her behavior as akin to “theft and audacity.” He accused her of fostering an environment of fear, violence, and intimidation during elections over the past 15 years, where bombings and thuggery prevented people from voting.
Singh noted that this time, the Election Commission deployed paramilitary forces, resulting in a significant increase in voter participation, allowing citizens to vote without fear. He claimed that people in the state are now moving freely, and the election process has been more transparent. He further accused Banerjee of having risen against the “terror” of the Left era in politics, only to create a similar atmosphere once in power.
He also stated that if Banerjee does not step down voluntarily, the Governor should take action. Additionally, he criticized the state government on issues related to infiltration and law and order.
Regarding the cabinet expansion in Bihar, Singh described it as a natural process, emphasizing the need for a full team for the smooth functioning of the government. He mentioned that initially, only the Chief Minister and two Deputy Chief Ministers took the oath, but now, with the expanded cabinet, the government will accelerate development work. He hinted that the swearing-in ceremony would be grand, with the possibility of Prime Minister Modi’s attendance.
On the discussion of JDU leader Nishant Kumar’s name in the cabinet expansion, he expressed that it would be a positive development if Kumar takes an active role in politics, although the final decision rests with him, Nitish Kumar, and his party.
In response to the blasts in Jalandhar and Amritsar, Singh leveled serious accusations against the state government, claiming it has become a protector of terrorists, with contradictory statements emerging at the administrative level. According to him, the discrepancies between police and government statements raise questions about the state’s law and order situation.
