
Mumbai Crime Branch has made a significant breakthrough in the firing incident that took place outside Bollywood director Rohit Shetty’s residence in Worli. Four youths have been arrested in connection with the case, while interrogation of a fifth suspect is ongoing. The arrested accused were produced before the Esplanade Court in Mumbai on Sunday.
Unknown attackers opened fire outside Rohit Shetty’s home, causing panic in the area, though no casualties were reported. The Crime Branch launched an immediate investigation, utilizing CCTV footage, technical intelligence, and local sources. Their efforts led them to suspects linked to Pune.
During the probe, five individuals were detained in Pune. Out of these, four were formally arrested. The fifth person remains under intense questioning, as police suspect him to be one of the key conspirators behind the incident.
The arrested youths are identified as Aditya Dnyaneshwar Gayaki (19), resident of Galli No. 2, Karvenagar, Pune; Siddharth Deepak Yenpure (20), Pune resident; Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji (18), Pune resident; and Swapnil Bandu Sakat (23), resident of Dhayari, Pune.
According to police, all four are acquainted with each other and allegedly carried out the act due to an old rivalry or a social media dispute. Preliminary investigations revealed that some of the accused carried out reconnaissance around Rohit Shetty’s residence before the firing. Searches for weapons are currently underway.
Following the incident, Rohit Shetty stated that he is safe and expressed full confidence in the police. This episode has once again raised concerns about security within the Bollywood community. Many from the film industry have voiced their support for Rohit Shetty on social media and demanded strict action against the culprits.
