Hyderabad, March 14: Actor Rajendra Prasad, who faced backlash for his recent comments about the late actor and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.G. Ramachandran, has issued an apology to his fans. Vishal, the secretary of the South Indian Artists Association (SIAA), expressed that acknowledging one’s mistake is a significant act.
In a video posted on Instagram, Vishal thanked Rajendra Prasad for his heartfelt apology. He stated that it was a commendable and sensitive move for Rajendra Prasad to recognize his error and apologize promptly.
In the video, Vishal said, “Hello, Rajendra Prasad sir. On behalf of the South Indian Artists Association and millions of M.G.R. fans, thank you. Our feelings were hurt, which is why we requested this. Mistakes happen, but you have taken the step to apologize, which is a lovely and commendable gesture. We appreciate your sensitivity. If anyone speaks ill of you in the future, we will certainly condemn it.”
He mentioned that many senior individuals were hurt by Rajendra Prasad’s comments, but the apology brought relief to everyone. Vishal added, “Many fans still consider M.G.R. to be alive. Understanding their feelings is a significant contribution from you.”
It is noteworthy that during an event in Hyderabad, Rajendra Prasad made a humorous remark while praising veteran actor Kanta Rao, which was deemed disrespectful by M.G.R. fans. This led to outrage in Tamil Nadu. As the situation escalated, Rajendra Prasad released a video to sincerely apologize for his comments.
During the apology, he stated, “I am Rajendra Prasad, and I ask for your forgiveness. At that event, Kanta Rao sir was being honored. While speaking humorously about him, an unintended word slipped out. I hold him in high regard. He was the Chief Minister when I studied at the Madras Film Institute and would come to meet us. I could never think ill of him. If my words hurt anyone’s feelings, please forgive me. I promise this will not happen again. Let’s put this matter to rest.”
