Controversy Surrounds Dhurdhar: The Revenge Ahead of Release, Sikh Community Raises Concerns

Mumbai, March 14: The Bollywood film ‘Dhurdhar: The Revenge,’ starring Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt, is set to hit theaters on March 19. However, it is already embroiled in controversy ahead of its release. The Sikh community has raised concerns regarding Ranveer Singh’s character, alleging that the film attempts to portray the community in a negative light.

Social activist Vicky Thomas Singh from Maharashtra has issued a legal notice to the film’s producer-director and Ranveer Singh, who plays a Sikh character.

The notice states that the Sikh community does not consume tobacco, and smoking is strictly prohibited in Sikhism. Therefore, depicting such scenes in the film is not only religiously insensitive but also an affront to the beliefs of the entire Sikh community.

Vicky Thomas Singh demands the immediate removal of all scenes showing Sikhs smoking from the film. He also calls for the removal of similar content from promotional materials, including posters and trailers.

The notice requests the immediate withdrawal of blasphemous, objectionable, and religiously insensitive content from ‘Dhurdhar: The Revenge,’ along with a public apology to the Sikh community for including scenes and promotional material that seriously hurt their religious sentiments.

In the film, Ranveer Singh portrays a fictional spy named Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who gathers intelligence while posing as Hamza Ali among enemies in Pakistan.

The first part of the film depicted Jaskirat Singh Rangi as a prisoner sent to Pakistan after training. The second part promises to unveil many secrets related to his life.
