Ghaziabad, March 23: A significant ruling was issued by a CBI court in Ghaziabad on Monday, convicting Rafi Ahmed, the former Chief Yard Master of Agra Cantt Railway Station, in a bribery case. He has been sentenced to four years in prison and fined ₹10,000.
According to a press release from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the case was registered on July 4, 2015. Rafi Ahmed was accused of demanding an illegal bribe of ₹30,000 from a contractor. This bribe was sought in exchange for reducing a penalty imposed on the contractor for failing to satisfactorily load and unload items at the train guards’ line box.
Following a complaint, the CBI set up a trap and caught the accused red-handed while he was accepting the first installment of the bribe, which amounted to ₹5,000. After completing the investigation, the CBI filed a charge sheet against him on November 24, 2015. Based on extensive hearings and evidence, the court found him guilty and imposed a four-year sentence.
