Five Arrested in High-Profile Murder Case of Chhotu Mishra in Saharsa

Patna, March 15: The police in Saharsa district of Bihar showcased swift and coordinated action by solving the high-profile murder case of Satish Jha, also known as Chhotu Mishra, within 36 hours of the incident.

The murder occurred on March 13 near Meera Talkies, under the jurisdiction of Saharsa’s Sadar police station, where bike-riding assailants shot Chhotu Mishra in broad daylight.

Following the murder, the police immediately launched an investigation using technical surveillance, CCTV analysis, and human intelligence, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including the main assailants.

Given the seriousness of the case, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the direction of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Himanshu Kumar.

Based on CCTV footage and intelligence, the primary assailant, Rohit Kumar, also known as Mithu, was arrested in the neighboring district of Supaul. Another shooter, Navneet Kumar, was apprehended in Vidyapati Nagar, Samastipur district of Bihar.

After interrogating them, police arrested three additional accomplices who were allegedly involved in the murder and the concealment of weapons.

During the investigation, police raided the residence of one of the suspects, Saurabh Kumar Mishra, where a significant cache of weapons was recovered.

The seized items included four pistols, one revolver, one country-made pistol, two magazines, 12 live cartridges (7.65 mm and 9 mm), and a knife used in the murder.

SP Himanshu Kumar stated that the large quantity of weapons recovered indicates that the criminals were planning a major conspiracy.

He further mentioned that preliminary investigations revealed that the murder was a result of a long-standing feud.

According to police records, the murder of Karan Tiger occurred in August 2019, with Chhotu Mishra being the main accused in that case.

Investigators believe that this recent murder was executed in retaliation for Karan Tiger’s killing.

The police have registered an FIR at the Saharsa Sadar police station under the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.
