Fire Tragedy in Lucknow: Four Arrested After 15 Lives Lost

Lucknow, June 23: In a tragic incident in the Aliganj area of Lucknow, police have arrested four suspects linked to a devastating fire that claimed 15 lives. Nine others sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The fire broke out on Monday in a building located behind the Lal Batti UPSC building in Sector D Colony, under the jurisdiction of the Aliganj police station. Many individuals were trapped inside due to the rapid spread of smoke and flames. Some attempted to escape by jumping from the building, resulting in injuries.

Upon receiving news of the incident, a team comprising the Lucknow Police Commissioner, Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order), Joint Police Commissioner (Crime and Headquarters), Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Aliganj) rushed to the scene. Fire services, SDRF, and NDRF teams also collaborated in the rescue operations.

Rescue efforts successfully evacuated trapped individuals and the injured, who were then transported to the KGMU Trauma Center. Continuous operations were conducted to control the fire and search for any remaining victims in the debris.

In response to the incident, the Aliganj police have filed charges against the building owner, establishment operators, and other responsible parties. An investigation has commenced, focusing on building operations, fire safety measures, fire NOCs, and other legal permissions.

Among those arrested are building owner Virendra Prasad Shukla, gaming zone operator/director Tushank Krishna Jaiswal, IT networking worker Suresh Kumar Sahu, and pet shop owner Ram Krishna Upadhyay.

Police officials stated that interrogations are ongoing, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend other individuals responsible for the incident.
