Thane, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : In Thane, near Mumbai, police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a man for allegedly acquiring both Indian and Pakistani passports. The case was filed at the Hill Line police station against Chaand Ali Abdul Rashid Syed.
According to police reports, the accused traveled to Pakistan in 2009 using an Indian passport to visit relatives. It is alleged that he concealed his Indian citizenship and obtained a Pakistani passport based on forged documents.
Following the acquisition of the Pakistani passport, the individual allegedly re-entered India using that same passport. Furthermore, in 2024, he reportedly concealed information related to his previous Indian passport to obtain a new one.
The situation came to light when the Mumbai regional passport office raised suspicions about the validity of the accused’s documents and citizenship information. An investigation subsequently revealed that he possessed a Pakistani passport.
Thane police have charged the individual under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Passport Act, and the Foreigners Act. Law enforcement and security agencies are currently investigating the case further. They are looking into the circumstances under which the accused obtained both passports and whether any other individuals were involved in this matter.
