England Women Level Series Against India with Freya Kemps All-Round Performance

Bristol, May 30: The England women’s cricket team secured a 26-run victory against India in the second T20 match on Saturday, leveling the three-match series at 1-1. Freya Kemp was named ‘Player of the Match’ for her outstanding all-round performance.

Winning the toss, the English team opted to bat first and scored 168 runs while losing 5 wickets. Sophia Dunkley partnered with Danny Wyatt-Hodge to add 21 runs for the first wicket.

Dunkley managed to score 10 runs off 14 balls, including one six. Danny then collaborated with Amy Jones for the second wicket, contributing 29 runs from 25 balls.

Amy Jones and Alice Capsey added 27 runs for the third wicket, after which Capsey partnered with Heather Knight to push the team past the century mark. Both Amy and Alice scored 28 runs each, while Freya Kemp remained unbeaten with a quickfire 39 runs off just 13 balls, hitting 6 boundaries. For India, Shree Charni took 3 wickets for 25 runs, while Nandini Sharma and Shreyanka Patil claimed one wicket each.

In response, the Indian team managed only 142 runs, losing 9 wickets in the process. The opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana scored 27 runs in 18 balls, with Shafali contributing 22 runs off 14 balls, including 5 fours.

Mandhana then formed a partnership of 43 runs with Yastika Bhatia for the second wicket, bringing the team’s score to 70. Mandhana scored 32 runs off 25 balls. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur came in at number four and added 39 runs with Yastika off 36 balls. Yastika retired hurt after scoring 33 runs, while Harmanpreet contributed 28 runs. Freya Kemp, Lauren Bell, and Dean each took 2 wickets, while Sophie Ecclestone claimed 1 wicket.
