Empowering Girls: Uttar Pradesh Students to Attend IIT Gandhinagars Curiosity Program

Lucknow, June 18: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is expanding educational opportunities for girls beyond traditional schooling. The initiative aims to connect them with prestigious educational institutions, scientific innovations, and modern learning experiences.

As part of this effort, two Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ Schools from Uttar Pradesh have been selected for an orientation session organized by the Curiosity Program 2026-27 at IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This achievement not only reflects the academic excellence of these schools but also underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing girls’ education through new opportunities on a national platform.

According to departmental directives, the special orientation program will take place from July 13 to July 15. The participating schools are Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ School Kaudihar-1 in Prayagraj and Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ School Loni in Ghaziabad. Each school will be represented by two students and one teacher. The students will gain valuable insights by learning at one of the country’s leading technical institutions.

Under CM Yogi’s leadership, the state government is developing Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ Schools as effective centers for girl empowerment and quality education. Initiatives such as digital learning, innovation-based activities, and programs in science and mathematics have enabled girls from Uttar Pradesh to access prestigious institutions across the country.

The selection of students from Prayagraj and Ghaziabad for IIT Gandhinagar is a testament to the confidence with which these girls are advancing into mainstream opportunities. They are taking significant steps toward becoming future scientists, researchers, and innovators.

According to a letter from the Center for Creative Learning (CCL) at IIT Gandhinagar, the selected schools demonstrated remarkable performance throughout the year in the Curiosity Program. Kasturba Gandhi Girls’ School Kaudihar-1 participated in 46 out of 50 sessions, achieving a 92% attendance rate and submitting 39 out of 48 worksheets.

Similarly, KGBV Loni in Ghaziabad attended 49 out of 50 sessions, recording a 98% attendance rate and submitting 42 out of 48 worksheets. Both schools were chosen for this national-level program based on their outstanding participation and performance.

During the program, students will be introduced to activities focused on science, mathematics, innovation, creative learning, and problem-solving. They will closely observe IIT Gandhinagar’s academic environment, research culture, and innovation-based teaching model. This experience will foster a scientific mindset, redirect curiosity, and boost confidence in pursuing higher education. For students from rural and marginalized backgrounds, this opportunity will open doors to new possibilities.
