Eknath Shinde Questions Uddhav Thackeray Over Siddhivinayak Temple Loot

Mumbai, July 12: A heated debate erupted in the Maharashtra Assembly on Saturday as Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde launched a sharp attack on Shiv Sena-UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray.

Shinde accused Thackeray of practicing selective Hindutva and questioned why he remained silent about alleged donation irregularities at Mumbai’s iconic Siddhivinayak Temple during his tenure as Chief Minister.

This political clash comes amid a national controversy surrounding the theft of donations and valuables at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Addressing the assembly, Shinde condemned the security and financial lapses revealed at the Ayodhya temple, stating that these incidents have deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of Ram devotees across the country.

He confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has already made arrests and is actively investigating the Ayodhya case, assuring strict accountability.

Shinde emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will not spare anyone involved and will ensure that the guilty are imprisoned.

However, Shinde quickly shifted focus back to Maharashtra, targeting the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government led by Uddhav Thackeray. He presented documents alleging widespread mismanagement and financial misconduct at the Siddhivinayak Temple during Thackeray’s administration.

He questioned, “When your political allies were caught looting the donation boxes at Siddhivinayak Temple, why didn’t you order an investigation at that time?”

Shinde further claimed to possess documented evidence of the mismanagement that occurred during Thackeray’s tenure.
