India Must Embrace Innovation for Future Warfare, Says Defense Minister Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Defense Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the need for innovation across various sectors, including defense, cyber security, and artificial intelligence, to strengthen India’s defense capabilities and secure a strategic advantage globally. Speaking at the DRDO-Industry Synergy Meet ‘Vimarsh 2026’ in New Delhi, he highlighted that adopting advanced technologies and fostering innovation are essential for enhancing national security and effectively addressing future challenges.

Singh described technology as one of the most powerful tools of the 21st century, asserting its potential to shape India’s future and promote self-reliance. He noted the emergence of a new wave of startups in the defense sector, particularly in drone technology, AI, and cyber security, which are redefining the modern defense landscape. “Today’s innovations are the military capabilities of tomorrow,” he stated, adding that countries leading in technology will gain a strategic edge in future conflicts.

He urged the youth to cultivate confidence and a spirit of self-reliance, emphasizing that a nation with its own technology has the power to shape its future. Singh remarked, “Indian startups and micro, small, and medium enterprises are emerging as new flag bearers of innovation. From deep-tech to cutting-edge technologies, these institutions are writing a new story of self-reliance in the defense sector. The role of MSMEs and startups is crucial in building a self-reliant India, from research to manufacturing.”

The minister also stressed the need for greater collaboration among DRDO, the industry, and armed forces to accelerate technological development in the defense sector. He concluded by stating that the defense sector plays a pivotal role in achieving the goal of ‘Developed India 2047.’ When the technologies of DRDO, the manufacturing capabilities of the industry, the innovations of startups, and the aspirations of the youth align, India’s military strength will reach new heights. “This is the collective strength of ‘New India’,” he asserted.
