New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : During a recent meeting on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed several key issues. The meeting, which took place on September 12, highlighted the importance of mutual respect and sensitivity between the two nations.
At a weekly media briefing on Tuesday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Modi emphasized the need for both India and China to be sensitive to each other’s core concerns. He reiterated that their relationship should be guided by mutual respect, interests, and sensitivity.
When asked about China’s statements regarding Taiwan and Tibet, Jaiswal confirmed that various topics were discussed, including those mentioned in the question. Modi referred to India’s concerns and stressed that both sides should be mindful of each other’s fundamental issues.
The leaders agreed that differences should not escalate into disputes and recognized the necessity of viewing their relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective. A statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs noted that both leaders welcomed the stable progress in India-China bilateral relations since their last meeting in Tianjin in August 2025.
Modi highlighted that peace and stability in border areas remain essential for the continuous development of bilateral ties. On economic and trade relations, they discussed addressing structural trade imbalances and supply chain issues to facilitate meaningful and predictable market access.
The leaders agreed to continue expanding common ground on regional and global issues and to tackle emerging challenges together. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and other officials.
