Kochi, February 19: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a significant operation in connection with an alleged investment fraud case involving investors. On February 17, the ED provisionally seized assets worth ₹39.1 lakh belonging to Swati Rahim, the Managing Director of Save Box Concepts Private Limited. This action was taken during an investigation into money laundering allegations.
The ED initiated its investigation based on four FIRs filed at the East Police Station in Thrissur, Kerala. These FIRs allege various offenses against Swati Rahim and others. The company is accused of enticing multiple investors with promises of attractive returns, issuing shares, proposing partnerships, and offering franchises for an online bidding application. Subsequently, these investments were misused.
The investigation revealed that the company marketed itself as India’s first online bidding application and later linked its operations to cryptocurrency trading. While the company successfully raised funds from the public, it failed to meet its promised commitments. By the end of 2022, the company’s operations ceased, leading to numerous criminal complaints.
According to the ED’s findings, approximately ₹39.01 lakh in proceeds of crime was generated after partial refunds to four specific complainants. This amount was layered and diverted through various means. The investigation also uncovered that the funds were used for celebrity brand endorsements, covering losses in cryptocurrency trading, personal expenses, and other purposes.
The ED confirmed that assets equivalent to ₹39,01,000 were seized under a provisional attachment order issued on February 17, which is allegedly linked to the proceeds of crime. The investigation agency stated that further inquiries are ongoing, and additional actions may follow in the future.
