New Delhi, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) is taking serious action regarding allegations of irregularities in the reservation process for lecturer positions in Punjab’s education department. This follows a complaint from Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh, which claims that the recruitment process for 1,013 lecturer positions did not adhere to the established reservation policies and roster system.
Concerns have been raised about multiple subjects, including Punjabi, Commerce, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography, where it is alleged that the reservation rules were not properly followed.
In response to these allegations, the NCSC has decided to investigate the matter further. A notice has been issued to the Chief Secretary of Punjab, requiring him to submit all relevant documents, including the recruitment notification and reservation roster, within seven days of receiving the notice.
The NCSC has made it clear that if a response is not received within the stipulated timeframe, it may exercise its powers under Article 338 of the Constitution to summon individuals for personal appearances in civil court.
Kishore Makwana, the chairman of the NCSC, emphasized the seriousness of the claims regarding the denial of reservation benefits to Scheduled Caste candidates in the recruitment process. He reiterated the commission’s commitment to safeguarding the constitutional rights of Scheduled Castes and ensuring strict compliance with reservation provisions in government services. The commission is prepared to take all necessary steps to ensure justice as mandated by law.
