Kolkata, September 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on the Kolkata residence of former minister Indranil Sen and his garden house in Hooghly on September 29, 2026. This action is part of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities related to Durga Puja collections.
West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul commented on the raids, stating, “The ED is currently searching Indranil Sen’s home. It is alleged that over the past three years, tickets were sold using UNESCO’s name and logo during Durga Puja, resulting in millions of rupees being earned. The TMC came to power to deceive the people and profit from it.”
BJP legislator Dipanjan Kumar Guha also weighed in, highlighting the government’s stance on corruption. He remarked, “Given the zero-tolerance policy against corruption advocated by the Prime Minister and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, this was inevitable. Indranil Sen faces accusations of misappropriating crores of rupees. An investigation should be conducted into all funds withdrawn in the name of Durga Puja.”
Guha further stated, “The way people were exploited in Chandan Nagar and Kolkata under the guise of Durga Puja demands that those responsible face appropriate punishment. This government will not compromise on wrongdoing. Under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari’s leadership, the dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’ will be realized. Those who wish to live with integrity will thrive in Bengal, while strict actions are being taken against wrongdoers.”
The raids were conducted with the presence of central forces and ED officials at Sen’s garden house in Chutipur, Singur. Three vehicles from the central forces and two from the ED were deployed for the operation, which lasted several hours.
